Kona Coffee Tours
At Mountain Thunder, we will teach you about coffee from bean to cup. Our tours, we have been told, are the most individual, coolest, helpful and informative tours, which are often the highlight of any vacation in Kona.
Mountain Thunder has been featured on over 7 international television networks. For your enjoyment, you can visit one or both of our two locations where you can view some of our television appearances.
Mountain Thunder has won so many awards and honors over the last 6 years that we now judge the most prestegious cupping contest in Kona. We are honored to direct "Gevalia's Kona Coffee Cultural Festival's Kona Coffee Cupping Contest". We have also won 10 awards from different areas of scrutiny such as chef's choice, people's choice and barista championships.
Both of our locations are Certified Organic Farms.
Our Kaloko Location
A tour in action at Mountain Thunder's Kaloko Location.
Kaloko is a special place in Kalaoa, Kona, Hawaii that is located in a very serene, misty cloud forest. Among animals such as our small flock of guardian geese and Mama hen with her chicks, you will find your piece of serentity here at our Kaloko Location. You can also take advantage of our special services in Kaloko such as our V.I.P TOURS, ROASTMASTER FOR A DAY program, and LUNCH ON THE FARM.
V.I.P TOURS
Our V.I.P tours last up to an hour and a half and include free tasting of our Kona Private Reserve. The our will include a "see all" approach where you get to see our Organic Cloud Forest Estate, the Dry Mill, Wet Mill and Roastery. V.I.P tours also include a chance to purchase some of our wonderful, wholesome products in our gift shop. ROASTMASTER FOR A DAY
Get your very own chance to be introduced to roasting arguably the best coffee in the world! Our expert roasters will guide you through roasting a batch of 5 Lbs. of our Kona Private Reserve. You will learn how to warm up, load, roast, cool and bag your own coffee. If pictures are provided, we can make custom family labels with digital pictures provided. We would ask for 72 hours lead-time from the time we get the pictures. email aloha@mountainthunder.com for an appointment.
LUNCH ON THE FARM
Lunch on the farm is provided to our guests with 24 hour lead time. This includes specially selected local plate lunch menu items. Lunch can be scheduled with your V.I.P tour or an order emailed to aloha@mountainthunder.com
DIRECTIONS TO THE FARM
From Highway 19 and 190 junction in downtown Kailua Kona, go uphill on 190 passing the junction of 180/190, as indicated on map. Continue on 190 for approx. 1 mile to Kaloko Drive. Turn right & proceed up Kaloko to the 3rd Hao Street where you will see a Mountain Thunder sign. Turn right and follow to end. Phone 808-325-2136 for 24-hour tour directions.
Our Kainaleu Location
Kainaliu is a special place in heart of the Kona Coffee Belt. At our Kainaliu location we grow 100% Organic Kona Coffee, organic pineapple, organic mamaki tea, organic sugar cane, organic cacao and organic green tea.
