Mountain Thunder has been committed to Organic Kona Coffee since its foundational years, and maintains organic coffee groves on all its properties. We do offer our Cloud Forest Reserve Coffee, which is the particular coffee that comes from our Cloud Forest Estate which has won numerous awards.

However, for those of you who want some premium organic coffee that is not of estate origin, we offer our Organic Private Reserve coffee. Mountain Thunder works with several organic farmers in Kona, coaching them on how to grow organic coffee, assisting them when necessary in the course of coffee production.

These farms are not necessarily award-winning farms, however, they are farming their coffee organically and they are certified organic by the USDA. The thing that you need to look out for when buying Organic Kona Coffee, is whether or not the farm is actually certified, and can display the USDA Organic Seal



Unauthorized use of this seal is punishable by a $10,000.00 fine for each ocurrance. Tell me, why would you buy uncertified Organic Kona Coffee? If it is uncertified, is it really organic?

Mountain Thunder buys organic cherry from these farmers and processes the coffee through to parchment, then green coffee, and then we roast it. The Organic Private Reserve becomes the choice beans from these processes. We take out any imperfect beans, and making sure that the color is superb. Coming out of the pipe, true Organic Kona Coffee has a very good color, and really does not need very much color work at all.

If you have tasted the conventional Private Reserve, you will be comforted to know that the Organic Kona Private Reserve is even better, and rest assured it is grown and processed without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, rodenticies, insecticides, herbicides and GMO products. Only USDA approved products are used in the production of the Organic Kona Private Reserve.
