Map of Mountain Thunder's two locations

Our farm has been described by some people as "hard to find", while others, with a little direction can find us quite easily. I think that the best thing for you to do is to get to Kona with the below directions printed out in hand. It will be a tremendous help finding us in our relatively remote, beautiful location. Don't be let down by this description, as we have a modern, well-paved road up to our plantation. I say this because some farms are only accessible by four wheel drive roads. And just to let you know how close we really are to Kona, total driving time from downtown Kailua Kona from door to door is only 15 minutes. The thing that gets people every time is that Kaloko drive and Hao Street intersect each other three times while going uphill. The engineers who designed these two intersecting roads were a product of the 70's, and obviously, the road design is a little original and creative (our development was made in the early 1970's). We are located in the Kaloko Cloud Forest of Kona and you can tell any local you want to go to Mountain Thunder in Kaloko, and they will know where Kaloko is.

Directions From Downtown Kailua Kona to Kaloko location (going north on 190)

Please drive up Palani Road from Junction 11 & 190 in Downtown Kailua-Kona. Go uphill or "mauka" (Hawaiian for uphill) until you reach junction 180 & 190 (also known As Palani Junction). Continue heading north on 190 passing through Hina Lani Intersection exactly one mile, until you reach an intersecting road (only 1 stop sign) called Kaloko Drive and 190. There are yellow street signs on 190 showing that Kaloko Drive is approaching. Turn Right, go up Kaloko Drive 3 miles to the 3rd Hao Street (if you watch, you will pass Hao Street once, and then twice, until you get to the third Hao Street) and turn right on Hao Street. You will know you are at the third Hao Street because there are coffee signs hanging from a tree. Follow to end. We are at the end on the makai (downhill) side of the road.

Directions from Waikoloa Resort Area to Kaloko location (going south on 11)

Driving Time should be approximately 30 minutes, versus one hour to one hour and a half to other plantations). Get onto the lower road out of Waikoloa (Queen Kaahumanu Highway, Highway 11) heading south towards Kona. Go all the way to the airport (Kona International Airport). Turn left on the next lighted intersection after the airport --Intersection of Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Kai'iminani Drive. Go uphill on Kai'iminani Drive all the way until it ends. Turn right onto Highway 190. Go south on 190 until you see a blue sign on the right side of the road that says "Kona Church of God". You will see yellow street signs indicating that Kaloko Drive is approaching. Turn left, go up Kaloko Drive 3 miles to the 3rd Hao Street (if you watch, you will pass Hao Street once, and then twice, until you get to the third Hao Street) and turn right on Hao Street. You will know you are at the third Hao Street because there are coffee signs hanging from a tree. Follow to end. We are at the end on the makai (downhill) side of the road.

Directions from Downtown Kona to Kainaliu location (going south on 11)
