Research showing coffee could help prevent liver cancer.

It was shown in February of 2005, that Japanese researchers in Japan had done a statistical research study based on Japanese Department of health records and statistics. In this study, the researchers conducted a study which contained data from approximately 90,000 participants. This large study did find some startiling numbers, mainly that a common liver cancer was reduced by around 50% in those people who drank coffee. The study did not differentiate between decaf drinkers or caffienated drinkers, but noted that most Japanese coffee drinkers do not drink decaf.
Further studies were conducted to see if there was a statistically significant relationship between coffee drinking and lower cases liver cancer in people with Hepatitus C infection. The findings found that there was no statistically significant finding that showed drinking coffee was helpful to prevent liver cancer in people infected with Hepatitus C. Therefore further studies are suggested, and will be carried out to find out how drinking coffee lowers liver cancer.
